Black on Black

The black on black assignments that we worked on this quarter were suppose to help us understand lighting and how it can help an object appear more 3D. Since the camera sensor can only translate information on a 2D plane, it loses some of the depth and feel that our eyes naturally interpret, making it more difficult to capture exactly what our eyes see. With the lighting technique that I learned,  I am now able to shape objects with light giving them more depth and 3D presence in my images. IMG_8896-5

I have a long way to go however; this technique is a hard one to master but hopefully someday I can accomplish something like this:

Recent Work 12/1/14

Pepper No. 30Pepper No. 30 is Edward Weston's most famous work. It is of a pepper that resembles the human form in its contours and contrasting shades of grey. I thought this idea was great, being able to take something so simple and make it interesting and unique through lighting. I went to the store and tried to find the gnarliest pepper in the bunch and experiment with this idea. Here are some images from the shoot I did with, Pepper No. 31.
